On June 22nd, 2025, I chose to explore Lukang Old Street during the golden hour, waiting for the crowds to gradually fade away into peaceful moments. The clear sky allowed the setting sun to pour generously into the ancient alleyways, where light filtered through traditional architecture, creating beautiful patterns of light and shadow on both the ground and walls.
Starting from the winding Jiuqu Lane, passing through the historic Houche Lane narrow gate, and discovering the charming Wagan Shrine – a delightful miniature art installation – each step felt like a journey through time. Along this path, the art installation by Li Ye Tea Pottery particularly caught my eye, adorned with countless bottles of Lifestyle Bubble Green Tea, that beloved old brand that grew up with us. The thoughtful message “The Drink of Life” instantly brought back sweet childhood memories.
Arriving at the entrance of Osmanthus Lane Art Village, I found the “Happiness” bus stop standing quietly, with “Lukang Era” written on the wall behind it. At that moment, I suddenly realized – isn’t this the “Happy Lukang Era”? In this town full of stories, every corner tells tales of our beautiful times.
Lukang in the evening light has a magical power that makes us slow down and rediscover the gentle moments in life that we’ve forgotten.
