A Beautiful Accident from Missing the Sunset – Busan Songdo Sky Park

On June 4th, 2024, I visited Busan Songdo Sky Park, hoping to capture the beautiful sunset. On the rooftop of Songdo Sky Park cable car station, I was ready to photograph that golden sunset moment.

Since I arrived quite late, I couldn’t even set up my camera properly before the sun started to set. Though I felt a bit disappointed about missing the complete sunset, I decided to stay a little longer. I had no idea this decision would lead me to discover something even more magical than the sunset.

After the sun completely disappeared below the horizon, the sky began to show its most charming side. Orange, pink, and purple colors layered together beautifully. The whole sky looked like a spilled paint palette, with colors blending so naturally and beautifully. This is what photographers call the “blue hour” – that brief but breathtaking magical time.

What surprised me even more was finding a Little Prince art installation on the rooftop! When this fairy-tale silhouette met the dreamy sky colors, the whole scene felt like it took me to another world. At that moment, I truly felt the pure and romantic atmosphere from the Little Prince story.

Sometimes the most beautiful scenery appears at moments we never planned for. The unexpected blue hour colors, combined with the charming Little Prince, created a scene more wonderful than any sunset I could have imagined.

Travel is like this, isn’t it? While planned beautiful views are precious, those unexpected surprises often become our most unforgettable memories. Thank you, Busan Songdo, for giving me a whole magical world while I was missing the sunset.
