A Corner Kissed by Sea Breeze — Hidden Surprises at Haedong Yonggungsa Temple

On the afternoon of June 3rd, 2025, I explored Haedong Yonggungsa Temple in Busan. This seaside temple attracted many visitors, but my biggest surprise was finding three small monk statues in a quiet corner. With poses covering ears, bowing in thought, and covering eyes, they teach the Buddhist wisdom of “hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil.” From the traditional Korean gate to the Eighteen Arhats at Samcheonggung Pond, from the Guanyin statue behind the dragon to the great egret I met on my way back, this journey taught me that the most precious discoveries often hide in the most overlooked places.
