On May 29, 2025, after leaving Dongseongno, I visited Gyesan Cathedral and March 1st Movement Road in Daegu. The weather was perfect that day, with gentle sunshine falling on this land full of historical meaning.
Though Gyesan Cathedral is not very large, it has a beautiful European-style pointed tower design. The statue of Christ at the front and the cross on top of the building work together perfectly, creating a peaceful and holy feeling.
Walking along March 1st Movement Road, I couldn’t help thinking about the history behind this path. It is said that students in the past secretly used this road to enter the city center for independence meetings, trying to avoid Japanese military watching. Walking on this road today, I could still feel the brave spirit of those who fought for freedom.
When I was taking photos, the sun was shining brightly in the sky. That light felt like a symbol of hope, lighting up the road to the future. Looking from the side of March 1st Movement Road, Daegu First Church appeared before my eyes, looking like a grand castle protecting the faith and memories of this land.
